Best Morning Rituals

Let’s face it, some of us can’t make it to the gym for various reasons. Whether we’re too lazy, not motivated enough, or just can’t afford those monthly membership fees, it doesn’t mean we can’t get out of our chairs and into a better body. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

Scanning Original Artwork into Photoshop: Part 2 – Black and White

OK, so, in my last article, I explained how to scann in your artwork into a high resolution photoshop file. In case you’ve forgotten, scan in your art as 600 dpi if you plan on working with print or web, higher still if you want the picture for something larger. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

I suck on the Internet

Just found out that two nerds on reddit think my comic sucks.

http://www.reddit.com/user/asap/

Now, after having survived bullies, psycho ex-girlfriends, crazed cats and gang bangers, what breaks through my thick skin are the words of a bunch of nerds on the Internet. It’s something I knew I’d have to face when I started posting my artwork online, and it’s the biggest killer of creativity in all forms; dealing with critics.

No matter what you do in life, what you create or what you pour your soul into, someone out there will try to take a piss on it.  Mostly, I take it in stride, but I find that in this moment, I’m somewhat saddened.

However, their opinion carries the most weight with me, because they are my kin.  They are like me.

I’m going to have to deal with schmucks like these as long as I write or draw, I’m aware of this.  I’ve even heard from those I look up to in the industry, that this kind of crap never goes away.  So, I guess, in my own way, I have arrived.

I finally have haters!

Live your m’fing life. Get your hustle on. Understand people are gonna hate you regardless. Get that out of your head, that fantasy world where people ain’t hating on you. You gotta be grateful. You need haters. WTF you complaining about. WTF do you think a haters job is? To f’ing hate. So let them do their damn job. – KATT WILLIAMS

Scanning in Art via Photoshop for the Web

You should always think of any image, as a collection of dots. On the web, these are called pixels, which is a single unit of color, or a colored dot. In the print world, these dots are also called pixels, or dots. A screen can only display 72 pixels, per inch, whereas in the print world, you can put as many in as you can fit. The standard tends to be 300 pixels per inch, or dpi (dots per inch) for textbook quality. However, the more dots, the better the picture, and the bigger you can stretch it out.

your ad here…

Ok, so I’m trying out some ads, both on my site and on other web sites. Right now, it’s the best way to monetize my work, until I can get enough of a readership to warrant useful crap like shirts and stuff.

Feel free to drop me a line, and tell me how you found my little slice of the Internet.

Hope you enjoy my work, and I’m pleased to meet ya!

Change is coming…again

They say the shoemaker’s son doesn’t have shoes. I’m not sure who this guy is, but Child Services needs to get involved with that.

I make this corny joke for a reason; the site is going through changes. As a new blogger, I need to tell you about every thought that passes through my mind, and every movement that travels through my bowels.

Therefore, you have been warned. I am making changes. If you’d like to contribute, let me know. If you have suggestions, pass them along.

If you don’t like something I’m doing…well, you should tell me, shouldn’t you?

@nwc Co-Working in NYC

I just got back from checking out a co-working space around Varick Street. This is an interesting concept for me, as it makes me feel like I’m going somewhere with my business, and lets me balance freelance work, with social interaction.

Ever since I left the 9 to 5 days behind, the hardest thing to deal with was the lack of social interaction with my peers, outside of the party scene that is.

I think a co-work space, with other creative entrepreneurs would do good for someone like me, and I highly recommend it for anyone else looking to break out of the cubicle.

New Work City, I like the cut of your jib!

Heath Ledger fans campaign for the Joker to be retired

Heath Ledger fans campaign for the Joker to be retired.

I think this is a bad idea.  Sure, Heath’s portrayal of the clown prince of crime was on the money, but that doesn’t mean we won’t have a better portrayal in another generation.  Having the Joker retired would have been like having Sean Connery’s performance being locked as 007.  It would be an honor for Heath, sure, but it would cost DC/Warner Brothers buckets of cash if they ever want to revamp the character, or make any changes to him. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

I R Fanboy – NYCC ’09

This past weekend, we gather to pay homage to the sheets of pulp that define our collective addiction, comics.  This was the second time I’ve ever been to the NYCC, and this time around, I was in geek overdrive. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

A Review of “The Twelve”

For those that don’t know, J. Michael Straczynski, is the man and can never do wrong by me.  His run on Spider-man brought me back to comics with tears of Joy.  I say without a doubt that Babylon 5 was one of the most revolutionary shows of it’s time.  Jeremiah was a deeply moving show.  Etcetera, etcetera.

In short, anytime he puts his pen to paper, it’s gold.  I have yet to see Changeling, but I heard it was produced with only a first draft from JMS, which to me is quite a remarkable achievement.

OK, fanboy moment is over.  Onto the topic at hand; The Twelve.
